Morrison Food Pantry

If the Morrison School District announces school closures for the day because of the weather, the food pantry will be closed and will reopen the following Thursday. Additionally, in 2025, the Food Pantry will be closed on the following Thursdays due to the holidays:
November 27, 2025 - Thanksgiving Week. We will reopen December 4, 2025
December 25, 2025 and January 1, 2026 - Christmas and New Year's. We will reopen January 8, 2026.

Convenient Location

The Morrison Food Pantry is now serving clients from our new location at 629 East Lincolnway (former Hilltop Bowling Alley, next to Kunes Auto Dealership). This move has allowed us to expand our services to the community.

The monthly income eligibility for FY24-25 has gone up - view or download the guidelines from the link below.

When you visit us, you will not need to leave your car. A representative will come to you, obtain the required information, and food items are then delivered to your vehicle by volunteers. We ask that unnecessary items be removed from your vehicle to provide us with space to place your items. Having to rearrange space for your items slows down the process and creates longer wait times for others. Clients may visit the pantry once in each calendar month. Should an emergency situation arise, please talk to one of our staff.

If you are a first-time visitor please have one of the following items available:

an official ID, i.e. Illinois driver's license with current address (preferred)
current utility or medical bill or a landlord's rental receipt with name and current address

You will also need a completed application form (see link to APPLICATION FORM below), which may be filled out in advance of or on your first visit. Your current address, and our verification of such by the information presented, is a requirement we need to have on record for each client. You are required to fill out a registration sheet, with your name, address, phone number and the name and age of the people residing full-time in your household at the time of registration. Information on the registration is not shared with any outside sources. Should the number of people change, or if you move, please let the staff know and we will update your information.

Rules & Regulations

The food pantry has the following rules to ensure we can properly provide for the Morrison community.

Clients must reside within the Morrison School District (ZIP Code 61270).
Clients must be below the maximum gross income guidelines established by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). (See link to INCOME GUIDELINES below.)
Annual registration with a current driver’s license, or a utility or medical bill, showing proof of residence.
One visit per family per month.
No referral required.

Donations

The food pantry does not receive any tax monies from city, county, state or federal government entities. We rely on public donations to fund our operations, and any and all donations are greatly appreciated in keeping us able to continue serving the Morrison community.

There are many ways you can help support the Morrison Food Pantry:

Monetary donations, preferred source as the food pantry can purchase needed items at a greatly reduced cost through our food bank partners
Gifts of donated meat, eggs, canned or fresh vegetables/fruits and other edible items
Donations of personal care items

About Us

The Morrison Food Pantry was started in 1990 by Phyllis Fell, who saw a need to prevent food insecurity in Morrison, Illinois. In November 2021, the pantry reorganized as a stand-alone 501c3 non-profit corporation doing business as Morrison Charitable Food Pantry, NFP. Our mission is to provide food assistance to qualified residents in the Morrison, Illinois School District.

The pantry obtains the majority of its food items from the River Bend Food Bank in Davenport, Iowa, with supplemental items coming from Sauk Valley Food Bank in Sterling, Illinois, donated items from our local Sullivan’s Food Store and private donations.

Our food pantry is open every Thursday from 8-10am with few exceptions.
